Carl Hagwood and Michael Phillips obtained a defense verdict in a nursing home negligence lawsuit in United States District Court, Southern District, Mississippi in May, 2008. The favorable outcome in this case was attributed to excellent documentation from the facilities= nurses, CNAs, dietary and physical therapy staff. Additionally, testimony from individuals who provided hands-on care to the resident/plaintiffs played a key role in demonstrating to the jury that the standard of care was met at each facility.
